winning your first day out
Don't be a maverick
Synergy: the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. A pistol is much more powerful when all the moving parts work in concert with the bullet. Your team works the same way. Move with your wingmen / wingwomen to accomplish goals. Signal them to tell them if they are too close or too far or if they need to cover you. When you see hostiles, let your teamates know. If the hostiles are making a move, let your teamates know. Working in concert you will win far more games than if you play as a collection of individuals.
If you see a pourly positioned hostile, get the team to work together to eliminate it. Teamates should pin the hostile down, closing off retreat while other teamates should move to the enemy's sides get better shooting angles. Another tactic is to rush an isolated enemy while teamates pin him down and nail him at close range. Don't discuss the situation for hours, but make a quick plan of action. It'll come very easy. Look at your teamates through the whole process, so you'll be able to signal them to provide cover fire or to shift or to charge.
If you come across multiple hostiles determine which one is the easiest target (or the most threatening -- you want to eliminate them first). Work as a team to knock the target out while protecting yourselves from your opponents.
Lastly, concentrate your forces!
Stay calm
So you spot a careless hostile just begging to have the color of his uniform changed. Stay calm.
You'll be surprised to see how many first shots will miss the target. Your mear presence makes them nervous and they'll fire back at you in panic. Don't make the same mistake. Aim each of your shots. Believe me, the first opponent who'll see you will miss you because he'll try to empty his entire hopper on you. If you take the time to aim, he'll either have to lower his head or he'll be wiping your paint off his visor.
If you get pinned down and hostiles are redecorating the other side of your barricade, wait for a lull and then take a quick look. Nine times out of ten, you'll get a good view of where the hostiles are at. Don't keep sticking your head out in the same place or at regular intervals. If you do you'll get popped in the head. If you stick your marker out and fire a couple of paintballs in their direction they'll put their heads back under cover and allow you to escape...sometimes.
Aim at your opponent's marker / hopper / head, and calmly dispose of him.
Closing Remarks
To win you have to get organized, stay calm, and be confident. You're on your way to being a stone cold killer. A viscious mercinary. Just remember to be humble enough to acknowledge and analyze your mistakes.
