Simple Standing
The standing position is the single best position to play from. Not only is standing easy, but you can move quickly from the standing position to any other basic stance. It offers comfort, speed, and offers the best view of the field. For the aggressive player, the simple standing postion is really the choice du jour.
Unfortunately, the way most fields are built (including mine), this stance isn't used as often as I'd like because the bunkers simply aren't tall enough to stand behind. Anybody over 5 feet 5 is going to have a tough time finding bunkers you can stand erect behind.
Standing behind a bunker is easy. Set your feet square to the bunker so your belt buckle is facing forward and then bend at the waste to make yourself a smaller target. This allows you to pivot either left or right and also lean out from behind the bunker to shoot. Remember to keep your elbows in and your head down, as if you were riding a road bike in high wind.
