PAINTBALL???
An afternoon of paintball will not solve an ailing corporate culture. It will not change a negative atmosphere into a positive one. It's probably a bad idea to bring employees who don't like each other down to the field to shoot each other with 200 mph paintballs. Bad feelings will only worsen. Paintball is a little bit like working out. You don't do it when you're sick, but when you're healthy it raises performance levels and keeps you in great condition.
VITAL SKILLS
Communication: To be successful you've got to communicate with your teammates. It's not enough to say quietly that hostiles are about to overrun your position. There is simply too much noise. When paintballs are wizzing past your head at 200 mph, adrenaline begins to flow and you simply can't hear normally. You've got to SHOUT. Break through communication barriers and let your teammates know what you see. Direct, warn, encourage, and consult with each other before, during, and after each game.
Respect: Each of us has unique skills and talents. Some people will daringly attack, others will snipe and sneek. Everyone has a role to play. Teammates are equally important and they have to act as a cohesive unit if they want to win. As team members begin to realize that all roles are equally necessary, they will have greater respect for each other and the jobs they do.
Trust: Perhaps the most important thing teammates learn to do is trust each other. Running out in front of a barrage of paintballs can be a little intimidating, but it's easier to do if you've got 6 teammates you know can trust to keep you from getting lit up. Trust will also be cultivated as teamates learn to play an exciting game together. Most of all they will have to rely on each other if they want to win.
